Michael Brandvold
Upon
graduating from
Mankato State University I
accepted a position as Director of Marketing with DKP Productions, a
artist management firm in Chicago.. While at DKP Productions I
represented a band, The Ultraviolet, that Gene Simmons' Simmons Records
pursued for a recording contract. Within a couple years I was recruited
by Red Light
Records to head up their National Radio Promotions department.
In 1995 I
launched my first website KISS Otaku
after teaching myself html. Within three years of launching my first
website I had designed and launched websites for Perris Records,
Creative
Communications, Sportmart and Montgomery Wards.
Three years
after the launch of KISS Otaku I was
personally recruited by Gene Simmons to lead the development and then
manage KISS' official website KISSonline.com. I then went on to manage
the website for seven years, building the site to a level of a half
million visitors a month. I was involved
in the online marketing efforts for New Line Cinema's release Detroit
Rock City, Universal Records Billboard top 10 debuting release Psycho
Circus,
KISS The Box Set, Sanctuary Records release KISS Symphony Alive IV on
CD and DVD, Regal Cinemas KISS Symphony Alive IV big screen debut,
Showtime's PPV The Last KISS, Livent's Phantom of the Opera, Wilshire
Financial's KISS Visa card. KISSonline and my efforts were profiled by
companies such as Adobe, Amazon and TechTV. I received Gold RIAA awards
for my efforts in promoting KISS Psycho Circus, The KISS Box Set and
KISS Symphony Alive IV.
While managing
KISSonline as a Director of Web
Services at Signatures Network (a Sony/CMGi company) I also launched
official websites and fanclubs for high-profile artists such as;
Madonna, U2, Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, Meat Loaf, John Mellencamp,
Alan Jackson, Thalia, Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Aaron Carter,
Fleetwood Mac and Rod Stewart.
I was at the
forefront in the development of the VIP ticket
experience program. After a initial trial launch with Sammy Hagar, I
developed the Platinum VIP ticket program for KISS' World Domination
tour,
co-headlining with Aerosmith. This program set the mark for all other
VIP programs, offering front row tickets, exclusive merchandise,
personal photo with the band and a meet and greet for $1000. Over the
course
of a 60 date tour, the VIP program soldout at every show.
Following
Signatures Network I accepted the role
of Director Affiliate Sales at GameLink.com; a industry veteran and
leader in online sales of adult products. In this role I managed a
external sales force in Toronto, Philadelphia and Spain and a client
base of over 10,000 affiliates around the world which account for
nearly a million dollars a quarter in online sales.
GameLink.com
was acquired
by Private Media, publically traded on NASDAQ. Shortly after the
acquistion I was promoted to Director of Marketing and Sales. In a very
short time this was followed by another promotion to Director of Online
Marketing for GameLink, Private and Sureflix. In this role I oversaw
the online marketing efforts of three companies located in the US,
Canada and Spain. I was the business owner of the brand management
relationship with Goodvibes.com, this site that while under my
direction won two consecutive AVN "O" Awards for Best Online Retailer.
Over the years GameLink has received multiple AVN and XBiz nominations
for Best VOD Website. I managed a local staff of seven, and coordinated
with a international team of eight.
I was a
business owner
for the development and release of some key projects, including:
launching a mobile platform, launching a Flash widget marketing tool,
launching OpenX ad platform, the transition of all Private commerce
sites over to our platform, launching GameLink and Private on Twitter
and Facebook and the marketing of "Open Invitation"; the best selling
movie of 2010.
I launched the largest adult news service on Twitter, @adultnewswire.
This service has provided over 30,000 news stories to over 7000
followers and has quickly become the premiere source for adult news on
Twitter and is used by many publicists, studios, stars and others for
distributing thier news.
